Position: Online English and Math Teacher (Primary School)

Curriculum: USA International Baccalaureate (IB)

Year Group: Grade 1 to 7

Salary: R190 – R250 per hour

Role Overview:

As part of Purple Ruler, you will deliver personalized education to students in the USA, using innovative online teaching methods. Your goal is to create a positive, supportive virtual environment where students overcome challenges, build confidence, and achieve their academic goals, ensuring quality education regardless of their circumstances.

What You Will Do:

You will lead small group sessions focused on English Language Arts (ELA) and primary level Math, helping students develop their skills in reading, writing, speaking, and listening. Key areas include:

• Reading: Analyzing and understanding different texts.
• Writing: Guiding students to express ideas clearly in essays, stories, and reports.
• Literature: Exploring books, short stories, and poems.
• Grammar: Teaching sentence structure, punctuation, and language rules.
• Speaking and Listening: Developing communication skills for effective discussions and presentations.

As a teacher, you’ll help students improve their literacy, critical thinking, and communication skills.

Requirements:

• Bachelors Degree and ESL teaching experience
• A clean South African police clearance from SAPS
• Teaching Availability: commit to a minimum of 15hours per week
• Fast, Reliable internet connection (min. 15MBPS upload and download).

Training:

As part of our onboarding process, all teachers are required to complete mandatory training. The training is designed for self-study, allowing you to work through the modules independently at your own pace. Once you have completed the modules, you can schedule a practical assessment with our Teacher Trainer.

Contractual Details:

Rolling contract duration.

Full-time opportunities are available

Immediate commencement.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Temp to perm
Contract length: 24 months

Pay: R190,00 – R260,00 per hour
