About the Role
Dis-Chem Pharmacies is looking for Casual Cashiers to join their Cosmo City store’s talent pool. A talent pool is a group of pre-screened candidates who may be considered for future opportunities. Being in the pool does not guarantee a job, but it increases your chance of being selected when a suitable position becomes available.
As a cashier, you will support customer service at the point of sale and ensure a world-class shopping experience. You will process transactions accurately, follow company policies, and help reduce fraud risk.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 / Matric
- At least 6 months’ experience in cashier/till operations
- Computer literate (MS Office)
- Strong numerical skills
- Fluent in English (spoken and written)
- Basic customer service knowledge
- Willing and able to work retail hours
Key Responsibilities
- Provide excellent customer service at the point of sale
- Build professional relationships with customers
- Report customer compliments and complaints to supervisors
- Be aware of promotions and sales
- Ensure safe handling of cash, stock, and merchandise
- Process payments (cash, cards, vouchers, coupons, and loyalty cards)
- Handle refunds, exchanges, and returns as authorised
- Follow cash management procedures, including safe drops
- Ensure till passwords and codes are secure
- Monitor and report suspicious behaviour to management
- Maintain professionalism and adhere to company security policies
